BALD GIRLS "NANJING FORUM" NANJING
Bald Girls – 2014 Nanjing Forum
Time: 11:00 AM, October 12, 2014
Location: Nanjing Vanguard Bookstore
In fast-developing China, the advancement of women’s rights has not kept pace with the rapid economic transformation. Xiaomeili’s thousand-mile “Feminist Trek” has become a prime example of the awakening of self-consciousness among Chinese women in recent years. At the same time, “virtue classes” — where the prevailing ethos is “no retorts to insults, no strikes in return” — have quietly emerged as a new trend in many provinces. To explore the gender mechanisms underlying both the “virtue classes” and the “Feminist Trek” while confronting society’s sensitive issues head-on, “Bald-Headed Ge Nu” hosted an open dialogue at Nanjing Vanguard Bookstore on October 12, inviting young people to join the conversation from multiple perspectives.
Host: Juan Xu
